How to choose SEO software

Start with the job. If you mostly check sites and links, Moz's free account or MozBar may be enough. If you report rankings to clients every day, pick a tool that tracks daily (Semrush or SE Ranking). If backlinks are the core of your work, Ahrefs and Semrush have the largest indexes. Then check the entry plan's quotas against your sites and keywords, and read the refund terms before you start a trial; several of these vendors give no refunds once a plan renews.

Review scores need care. A company's overall Trustpilot score depends heavily on whether it invites customers to review, so compare unprompted reviews with unprompted reviews. By that measure Moz trails every tool here; the Moz alternatives page breaks down why people leave, and Moz review statistics shows the full record.
