We've been using Moz since Jan 2014, when we switched from a desktop application that provided rankings reports, etc. Since then, Moz has been a key player in our SEO service, responsible not only for rankings data, but also keyword research, competitive analysis and tracking, on-page grading (great for when Yoast isn't an option), and more. It's one of our most expensive software subscriptions, but well worth the cost.

Best SEO course I've taken. The tutors are amazing and the course is structured very well. MozBar is a great SEO tool (browser extension), even for starters to use the free version. It enables you to check your keyword competition on Google, their websites, Domain and Page authority, spam score, backlinks... Here's a tip for blog writers: having at least one high-authority outbound link in your article is good. You can easily find it with MozBar on Google by typing the keyword (even Wikipedia link is good) and then link to it.

Time saver at a cost

Good product with quick deliverables which would take a long time to hack out otherwise. If SEO is your business it’s a no-brainier if it’s only part of your business the costs may be too high. As for leaving their service the other reviewers are right there is no easy link based approach. Which feels manipulative and they should change this. That said when you email them to cancel they are fantastic - or they were to me. Two years ago I picked up an infection on a business trip that left me unable to work for a few months, when I emailed them to cancel they backdated my refund. Two weeks later a parcel arrived with cups, pens and other gizmos and a get well message - even though I’m on another continent.

Moz - A high-tech modern company that still delivers "old-fashioned and caring" service for its customers.

When I contacted Moz to report a problem, they immediately resolved the issue, even though they knew that the issue was a result of my own negligence. Most companies are great UNTIL you have a problem. Moz proved to be great AFTER I had a problem - a problem that was of my own making!!! Going forward, I wouldn't even consider another company after my stress-free experience with Moz. Thank you to all of you at Moz. Keep up the great work.

I've contacted MOZ for help with various issues having to do with my account, as well as questions about their products. I've always been met with a quick response, friendly demeanor, and the willingness to take extra time and steps to point me to extra documentation about my particular inquiry on their Help Hub website. Professional SEO tools; Great customer service

Moz offers amazing SEO tools, in my opinion more useful for skilled technicians. It's definitely possible to use other tools when you're just starting out, but Moz still offers a great value with their subscription options. Their customer service is also too notch, they'll really take care of each one of their customers. They issued me a refund for an accidental subscription, which surprised me since their Terms of Use states that they don't! Even without a subscription, Moz still offers lots of materials to learn for free, which people who are new to SEO should use.

Excellent Customer Service

I wasn't aware that once the free trial ended, my card would be charged the monthly subscription amount. I was quite surprised when I saw the charge pop up on my phone. I emailed MOZ support and quickly received an email back asking to confirm my details. I was then issued a full refund plus a $50 credit for when I return. They definitely won an eventual customer.

I did not expect Moz to refund me the subscription particularly after finding out that Moz sent me subscription alert messages before drawing money but to my surprise Moz Help team refunded me my money while still allowing me to enjoy learning SEO course for free as a compliment. Love Moz’s Dedication

We haven’t been able to utilize Moz enough for a better review, but the website was easy to understand and navigate. The instructions were clear. We tried to upload our credit card information for the beta concept but we’re unable to after a few tries and two cards. This, believe it or not, is where Moz shines. Instead of turning away, we wrote to Moz so they’d know there was an issue and to help us get through this point. They sent us an email immediately to let us know they got our comments and to say they’d get their tech team on the matter. They wrote again to say they’re still working on it. Then another time to say the issue has been fixed. After we did not respond for a day, they reminded us. This is great custom service. The main thing is they actually read what we actually wrote-not the norm nowadays-and they did something about it. Once we’ve used Moz a while, we’ll come back and add to this review.

Good for a basic tool.

If I could only have one tool for basic SEO, it would be Moz. It's a user-friendly system that helps with basic keyword tracking, identifying opportunities, competitive analysis, and problems with your site. I'd say it does a B to B+ job at all these things, and it's especially good for companies that aren't super duper savvy. With that said, you only get updated data weekly or monthly -- there's no real way to do spot checks. Often, data is inconsistent. And there are occasional service disruptions. As an SEO consultant, I find that this is a good client-facing tool, but that I need to use at least two other tools to get all the insights I need to do a good job. I'd also note that Moz's pricing structure is not well suited for big websites. If you do something like ecommerce, travel, or real estate, it's not a good fit.

One of the best SEO resource websites …

One of the best SEO resource websites out there. My complaints are that many SEO tools that you can find for free elsewhere on the Internet are not available for free use on seomoz, on their resource page Internet Marketing Handbook, even though they call it a "free resource page". It's only for paying members, even simple tools like checking keywords and other things. Definitely not impressed with that. Even so, probably the main reason I love this site is their articles, community and blog. I've used their tools before, and my money is best spent elsewhere. Their tools aren't bad, but they aren't worth it for the price in my opinion.

The technical SEO certification was informative but frustrating at times

The technical SEO certification was very helpful. The videos were informative without being overwhelming. I had a couple issues: On the quizzes and final exam, I felt there were too many questions about random facts and percentages that weren't actually important to the hands-on understanding of technical SEO. It was also irritating to have to fill out the survey before being granted access to my certificate. It took me 10 minutes to figure out the final step of completing the survey to get to my certification. It was not at all intuitive.

The Moz Technical SEO Certification provides a good foundation for SEO practicioners. The content was organized, well presented and digestible for those with a limited understanding. I felt that the assigned tasks could have been more fully developed. They assume that the user has the knowledge and access to tools necessary to complete the tasks. Also the content seems slightly dated. Overall I would recommend this course

Great thought leadership and SEO toolset

I've used MOZ for a few years, since back when it was SEOMOZ, and it has always been a robust tool with great thought leadership backing the product. Rand Fishkin is a brilliant digital marketing leader. I really do wish it did a better job at spidering sites, instead of relying on a third party app like Xenu or ScreamingFrog. I really just want an all in one solution, and I feel like MOZ comes close in a lot of ways.

I took out a trial subscription to explore the functions. They were fine but didn't include a particular thing I was looking for. A month went by, I thought I had cancelled but didn't and so a charge went through. I emailed them to explain, they immediately understood and refunded the charge. A great system, but they are deceivers

Their system is actually really good. It's great for giving you suggestions for different keywords and helping you understand which keywords to target. However, when you sign up for their service, they sign you up automatically for their most expensive plan, and they hide any indication that there are cheaper plans available, that is, until you try to cancel you're account, and then they'll let you know that you can downgrade to smaller plans. They tricked me. I was deceived. Shame on them. Anyway, other than their black-hat, deceptive tactics, it's a really great program!

I have experienced ongoing reliability issues with MOZ. This is now the second time that weekly SEO data has not been delivered as expected. The first incident lasted nearly three weeks, and now the same problem has occurred again. For an SEO platform, consistent and reliable data is essential. When reporting stops for days or even weeks, it significantly reduces the value of the service and makes it difficult to rely on the platform for ongoing SEO monitoring and decision-making. What makes the situation even more frustrating is the lack of accessible human support. Customer support appears to be limited primarily to AI-driven assistance, making it difficult to get meaningful help or timely updates when critical issues arise. While MOZ offers useful features, the platform's reliability and support experience have been disappointing. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend the service to businesses or professionals who depend on consistent SEO data and responsive customer support. Poor reliability, repeated data outages, and inadequate support justify a 1-star rating.

Moz: a tool that penalizes rather than helps

Five years. It has now been five years since I completely overhauled my website: I removed dozens of pages, disavowed hundreds of toxic backlinks, and migrated the entire project to a static architecture. A colossal undertaking, carried out meticulously and strictly in accordance with Moz’s own recommendations. The result? My Spam Score remains stuck at 56, exactly as it was on day one. Not a single point of improvement. Nothing. What is even more troubling is that Moz continues to display pages that were deleted years ago, as if their system had never revisited my site. How can a tool supposedly designed to assess a site’s quality operate on data that is so outdated and demonstrably inaccurate? I contacted their support team: one generic reply about their quality guidelines, and then nothing. Complete silence. No transparency, no explanation, no meaningful update. Meanwhile, their obsolete and entirely disconnected score continues to undermine my partnerships and damage my business. At this stage, the question must be asked: what is the purpose of Moz if its data fails to reflect the work carried out or the actual state of a website? How can one claim to evaluate a domain’s “trustworthiness” using information that has been outdated for years? A tool that does not update its data, ignores corrections, fails to respond to its users, and maintains an unjustified score for more than five years cannot be considered reliable. Today, I regard Moz’s Spam Score as entirely lacking credibility. And it is deeply problematic that such a poorly maintained indicator can have real consequences for professional projects.

Poor renewal policy

I love the Moz website, however the policy of auto-renewals (for amounts over 1K) is terrible and ruins the experience overall. I did not receive an email about my account renewing and if I don't want to auto renew I had to "cancel" the account entirely, which appears that it has been shut down, but in actuality it's just not recharging you automatically. No refunds offered, not even prorated. This is uniquely poor service in comparison to ALL the other subscription accounts I hold.

Our listings dropped from 115+ to just 32 in the past year despite maintaining the same level of engagement on our end. The alternative SEO tools offered as part of thier bag of tricks weren't comparable to industry leaders like AHREFs. I discovered a competitor's link had been inexplicably added to one of my citations that contained my company's content, which raised serious questions about data management. Most concerning was receiving emails threatening that my citations would be sold to others when my plan was expiring - a practice that seems legally questionable for brand-owned content. This approach to customer retention feels inappropriate for a company in the professional services sector. Based on this experience, I can no longer recommend MOZ for directory submissions and suggest businesses explore alternative providers that offer more responsive support and transparent practices.

I use to think highly of Moz.com that was until I used their services. My website has been online for over 20 years and I must have over 100 citation website with addresses and phone numbers. They offer a service that correct all of your citations make sure everything is accurate and promise no duplicate listing. Well the day I made the purchased I set up my profile and information I realized that they only list a few of the websites that I have my listing on. So I sent them an email. I never received a reply. Then I found that I had a duplicate Google listing and sent them another email. Still no reply. Then I sent an email asking for a refund and I receive a prompt reply. With an answer that they do not give refunds. My mistake. I should have read some of their reviews before choosing. I am reading your response and this is so untrue. Immediately after joining, I sent an email with no response. Although I may not service customers at my address that should not mean all the citations that I have out there should not be fixed. you say it takes 3 weeks to have everything since up and no duplicates. When I saw what was going on with my Google Listing I had to stop it.

I have been using Moz Local this year …

I have been using Moz Local this year on the advice of a good friend who's an SEO expert. I paid £179 for the privilege of being their customer for a year. However from day one, they reported my Google reviews as if they were double the normal number. Of course, that error was skewing all my results, I asked for my money back and they refused to cooperate. Since then, their support department has contacted me to say the issue was fixed, and it was not. And now instead of the usual 54 Google reviews, Moz Local tells me I have 159 reviews! So I guess if I renew my membership with them, the number of my Google reviews will be ten fold. Rubbish service, rubbish at keeping you updated, rubbish at explaining where you stand, and still they will not reimburse you your money. You would be better off signing up with Scoot, Yelp, FB, Twitter, The Independent, The Mirror, The Sun, Touch Local, Central Index, Factual, Thomson Local, Google Plus, Foursquare and Hotfrog yourself, then monitor the situation. No need to part with £179. And no need to wait on this useless company to pretend to do the work for you, as they do not. AVOID.

To start the platform is not very intuitive and sometimes hard to navigate. I did not see the value in this product so I cancelled. A month later I was billed again. I cancelled the services again only to be billed again so I cancelled once more and reached out to support for a refund and was told they have a strict no refund policy even though the rep could see where I had cancelled the product. I went back and forth for a few days but was not able to get it resolved and the responses were only making me more angry so I stopped. Be very careful, just like with any subscription they make it very hard to cancel and will only do so when communication is in writing so theres no denying. Be careful

I like the concept of Moz DA, however when I compare their data to Google (search console) it is almost frightening. Moz miss alot of really big links (Including several wiki links!?) Might just be me, but I really dislike being judged on badly collected data.

I signed up for Moz's trial and canceled the subscription after 2 or 3 days, but I was still charged $179. It seems the cancellation process didn’t complete properly—I never received a cancellation confirmation email. When I contacted customer support, they claimed I never canceled and that their policy forbids refunds. Despite my request to review my account activity, they REFUSED to check. After reading other reviews, I’m not the only one facing this issue. Be AWERE before subscribing.

Do NOT sign up for free trial

I would not sign up for the free trial if you are a small business. I was testing it out and didn’t realize I had to cancel since I signed up for a few other tools that DON’T automatically charge you. When I went back to customer service-I told them what happened and got the standard “too bad, it’s our policy, that’s how SaaS works. I explained I am a small woman owned business and have not even used the platform. Again, after escalation I got the same response. I think consumers have been trained by these companies to basically not expect any kind of customer service. It’s all “buyer beware”-no wonder people are so burnt out trying to keep up with admin that is so freaking bureaucratic. And before you say “that’s how it works” maybe stop and question why. I think this free trial to automatically pay is nothing more than a scam. Saas companies should have to force you to opt-in before charging you automatically after a free trial to make sure you intend to purchase. That seems more than reasonable to me.

Hi, I have been working for you guys for a few weeks. I’ve been doin the tasks of 45 sets per task a day. I that you’d receive 0,25% for every buy/sale you do by clicking. It was known that you sometimes get merge data’s for which you get a higher percentage. Normally you’d get about 1 per task of 45. When this occurs, you get a account saldo in negative. Now I got like 7… and since you can’t withdrawal your earnings before finishing the 45 tasks it now went up al the way so far that I am now at -37k… I already spoke to your costumer service manager. And when had the second last merge data at 44/45 I already had -15k. I didn’t have that much money.. so I had to borrow from family and fellow employees. Because I was told that being at 44/45, I wouldn’t get another merge. So I did pay the entire 15k and did the semi last task, believing that it would be finished after that and that I would be able to withdraw after that. Now I got another merge and now I’m at -37k… I don’t have that much money to put on my account to equal the negative. This is unacceptable as I was promised that I wouldn’t get another merge. I have my entire life savings in this and I can’t finish the last set now. You guys need to help me fix this. I must have my money back, otherwise a lawsuit might be the only option. I kindly ask you to review this issue seriously and come forward with a solution. Again this is unacceptable and this isn’t a way to treat employees. I must have gotten 20 calls thus far from this "so called" company. Today, I answered. I got a guy that seemed very intelligent and someone that I might listen to. But then he decided to show me on a pie scale how badly my site was doing on all the directories. Little did he know that I know where my site stands on directory presence. I look at Bing on MOZ pie and it says, I'm not even on Bing. I ask him why it says that when I am on the top page of Bing, and he says, I'll transfer you to my manager because there is a reason our pie says you don't exist on Bing as well as others. I get a manager and I ask him this very question. He says, oh, Computers make mistakes too! I said what about all the other directories MOZ says I'm not on? I'm on the first page of a lot of these! He said, "so are you saying your fine or are you here to critique my business, because I can end this call." I said really? And I hung up! REALLY MOZ?? Please remember who called who! I'm just ecstatic that I didn't give these rip off artists my money and that I NEVER WILL!!

I was shocked to find a $179 charge from Moz for a subscription renewal I never authorized and was not notified about. I canceled the subscription immediately and contacted their support to request a refund. Their response? No refund, no exception, and no accountability. This kind of auto-renewal practice without clear notice is unethical. They take your money and refuse to give it back, even if you don’t use the service. I’ve since reported the charge to my bank for reversal. Extremely disappointed. I expected more transparency and professionalism from a company in the SEO industry.

I resent that Moz has cut off all phone contact with its customers/prospects. The company is on autopilot and hides behind a wall of info on their website that is difficult for small business owners to comprehend. In my case, as soon as I renewed by plan on 4/20/24, my business tanked. No calls, no emails. This is highly unusual. Something is very wrong. But try to get help from Moz. Moz Customer Services Antagonises Long Term Customer

I've been a customer of Moz since 2012. Until recently I've never had any problems with them. However, they now have new owners. It seems they've brought a ruthless attitude to the business that ignores long term customers. A problem with a payment led to an immediate suspension of my account and the loss of client data. MOZ actually worked fairly well for a rudimentary listing service. The problem I have is that they renewed my subscription without clearly notifying me. They sent an email stating there will be rate increases, however the emails did not state when my subscription would be renewing. The day I received the bill, I contacted MOZ for a refund, however they are not cooperative to this point. They state that their policy is no refunds. In my mind, this is fraudulent, as they are not informing their customer of the details of a renewal, and in California this is illegal due to the California Automatic Renewal Law.

Disgraceful company. Refused an initial refund (which was fair) and then took out more money from my account for a bigger package without me signing or agreeing to it! Then refused to refund me. I had to spend hours demanding via email and managed to claw back some it. They still haven't refunded me the full amount. Do not set up an account with MOZ.

I was out of Moz for almost 3 months. When I tried to log in they send a mail and instructed me to activate my account by clicking the link given in the mail. I cancelled my Moz account, but the cancellation was not honored. Despite cancelling, I was still charged a fee. I contacted them within hours of the charge to flag the mistake and request a refund, and they refused. This company probably makes half of their money by scamming people.

Before you do business with Moz review the website and ask the question how will I end service when the time comes? You will not find a phone number. Customer Service & Account Charging Issues

The company will not notify you when your free premium account trial is ending and will charge you without notice. When I noticed my business account had been charged, I reached out on the day to inform them I did not want the premium account and have yet to hear from customer service to reverse the charge.
