How we review Moz

What this site is

Moz Reviews is an independent review aggregator. We are not Moz and we don't work for them. Our goal is simple: collect what real users say about Moz across the platforms where they post it, then organize it so you can make an informed decision in a few minutes instead of an afternoon.

Where the reviews come from

We aggregated 1834 published reviews across 11 platforms. We did not write, edit, or solicit any of them. Every review is the words of a real Moz user, quoted from its original source:

  • G2· Moz Pro reviews from verified B2B users, mostly small and mid-size marketing teams.
  • Capterra· Verified Moz Pro reviews with scores for ease of use, features, support, and value.
  • TrustRadius· Long-form Moz Pro reviews from business users, scored out of 10.
  • Trustpilot· Reviews of Moz as a company, many of them about billing and support.
  • Chrome Web Store· Ratings of MozBar, Moz's free Chrome extension, with 900,000 users.
  • G2 (Moz Local)· G2 reviews of Moz Local, the listings and local SEO product.
  • Capterra (Moz Local)· Capterra reviews of Moz Local from local businesses and agencies.
  • Software Advice· Moz Pro reviews shared with Capterra (both are Gartner sites).
  • GetApp· Moz Pro reviews shared with Capterra; GetApp shows a short selection of them.
  • Gartner Peer Insights· Moz Pro reviews from verified staff at larger companies. Gartner shows no overall score.
  • Reddit· Comments about Moz from SEO practitioners in tool-comparison threads.

Moz averages 3.6 across 4,500+ ratings on five review platforms. This site shows every written review we could collect from those platforms in October 2026, critical ones included, apart from 13 that were about other businesses or were spam.

How we score and tag

Each review is tagged by sentiment (positive, mixed, or critical) and by audience (small business or mid-market or enterprise or agencies), so you can filter to the perspective that matches you. The verdict score on the homepage is the count-weighted average of the platforms' own public ratings, using the counts listed above. Our snapshot skews toward written and critical reviews on purpose, so its plain average (4/5) can run lower than the platform-wide figure. Neither number is made up, and neither is weighted to flatter the product.

Software Advice and GetApp republish Capterra's reviews, so the same reviews appear under all three. We show them under each platform but count those 350 ratings once in the cross-platform average. Gartner Peer Insights shows no overall score for Moz Pro, and Reddit has none, so neither counts toward it. Six G2 reviews display 0/5; we show them without stars rather than guess a score. The ease of use, features, support, and value scores on the homepage are Capterra's published category ratings (350 reviews), on a 10-point scale.

Review lists open sorted by "Most relevant": detailed, recent reviews that describe what Moz did for the writer come first, drawn from a mix of platforms, and the critical ones come after. Switch the sort to Newest, Highest rating, or Lowest rating, or filter to Critical, to read them in another order. The order never changes the averages above, which count every review we show.

Why we publish critical reviews

A review site that only shows praise isn't a review site. We include the negative reviews on purpose: the billing complaints, the support frustrations, the edge-case bugs, all verbatim and unedited. Balance is the entire point. It's what lets you trust the positive reviews too.

Affiliate disclosure

We earn a commission if you sign up for Moz through links on this site, at no extra cost to you. This is how we fund the work. It does not influence which reviews we show, how we tag them, or the score we report. The data is the data whether or not you click a link.
